While many may be watching the games from home, watching tournament games at local bars creates a different kind of experience.

Over in Greensboro, at Hidden Gate Brewing Company, manager Brandon Angelilli said even though they aren’t a traditional sports bar, they definitely see an influx in business around this time of year, “people do love watching sports here because it’s a good environment for it.”

“You know, bars are lively atmospheres, you got other fans to watch it with, you got friends you could be making, you know, you don’t want to have a whole bunch of people come over to your house, tear everything up, watch it on a little TV when you can go out and have several TV’s,” Angelilli said.

“I think it’s that camaraderie and competition, if you’re an NC State fan or a North Carolina fan or a Duke fan, you get the competition going, you don’t get that on your couch unless your wife’s Duke and your husband’s North Carolina. It’s not the same,” Burgess said.
